Τον τελευταίο αιώνα, ορισμένα έπιπλα έχουν ξεπεράσει τους απλούς λειτουργικούς τους ρόλους, ενσωματώνοντας τον εαυτό τους στον πολιτιστικό ιστό και καθορίζοντας την εποχή στην οποία δημιουργήθηκαν.
